Overview

Sonotech Ultragel® II is a high-performance ultrasonic couplant supplied as part number 25-901. This transparent, bright-blue, medium-viscosity gel is formulated with glycerin and propylene glycol to provide excellent surface wetting and transducer lubrication for flaw detection, sizing, thickness gauging, flow metering, acoustic emission testing, and weld inspection. Ultragel II is thixotropic—remaining in place on vertical and overhead surfaces—has slow drying for extended inspection time, offers high corrosion protection, and meets nuclear-grade halogen and sulfur limits for sensitive alloy inspection. It is widely approved for aerospace use, including Pratt & Whitney, and conforms to multiple industry standards.

Features & Benefits

  • Fills depressions in rough surfaces for reliable acoustic coupling
  • Provides good transducer lubrication and increased acoustic impedance to reduce surface noise
  • Thixotropic gel with great surface wetting—stays in place on vertical and overhead surfaces
  • Outstanding corrosion protection to safeguard inspected parts
  • Nuclear grade: low halogen and sulfur levels suitable for sensitive alloys
  • Suitable for hydrogen embrittlement and acoustic emission testing
  • Slow drying time enables extended inspection or long-term coupling
