Using base oils, thickeners and additives with chemistry designed to create high and low viscosities, Krytox™ XHT (extreme high-temperature) lubricants are targeted for use in very high-temperature ranges. While most petroleum products begin to degrade below 99 deg C (210 deg F) and become highly viscous at temperatures just below -18 deg C (0 deg F), Krytox™ XHT performance lubricants operate at significantly broader ranges (-70 to 360 deg C [-94 to 680 deg F]). Krytox™ XHT greases and oils can also perform in temperature spikes up to 400 deg C (752 deg F), when used in proper metallurgy with periodic relubrication.

FEATURES
• Krytox™ performance lubricants contain only carbon, oxygen and fluorine
• Because hydrogen is not present, they will not burn or support combustion, even in 100% liquid or gaseous oxygen
• Krytox™ performance lubricants are not only resistant to oxygen, but they are also inert to virtually all chemicals
• They are insoluble in most solvents, except for highly fluorinated fluids and some supercritical fluids such as CO2
• By differential thermal analysis, deterioration occurs at about 470 deg C in the absence of air
• When tested under nitrogen for six hours at 371 deg C, Krytox™ lubricants showed no increase in neutralization number or significant change in viscosity
• The presence of air does not substantially lower the decomposition point of Krytox™ oils
• Non-melting, extra strong bonding to substrate
