The Dukane 42A12-1 is a portable and self-contained functional tester specifically designed for testing underwater acoustic beacons. This battery-operated tester operates as a heterodyne type of receiver, allowing it to tune into the ultrasonic frequency range of 30 to 45 kHz. With its built-in microphone and loudspeaker, the test set can conduct operational tests on beacons without the need to remove them from their mount on the aircraft.
Its single-hand operation and audible feedback make it user-friendly. Moreover, it can be conveniently used while the beacon remains attached to the airframe or the aircraft's flight recorder. The Dukane 42A12-1 can perform the necessary operational tests for various beacons, including DK100, DK120, DK130, and DK140, as well as other beacons within the 30-45 kHz frequency range. Any 9 Volt Alkaline battery is utilized to power the product.
