GE's stage-1 high pressure turbine blades are responsible for extracting energy from high pressure and temperature. Turbine blades must operate under extreme circumstances, such as rotating at higher RPM through gas streams that may have higher temperatures than the blade's melting point. In such circumstances turbine blade manages mechanical stress and also transfers heat to an internal cooling flow in order to survive in these conditions.
