G.E.® Forward Outer Seal 1778M70P03

Part number 1778M70P03 is a forward support seal. The outer seal is placed radially outward of the blades. The forward outer seal serves as a barrier to prevent leakage of hot gases from the HPT to the LPT, as it is desirable that the combusted gas pass over high-pressure turbine blades efficiently for optimum energy extraction. The outer seal helps mitigate the natural tendency of hot gas flow from high pressure to low pressure turbine.
The forward outer seal is designed to create a tight seal while allowing other necessary movements. Made with high-temperature resistant materials, the outer seal provides effective sealing while minimizing gas leakage for a prime turbine life.
