There are many metal surface treatment types used in aviation including windscreen washer fluid, deicer boots and cleaners, corrosion inhibitors, and surface prep for coatings. Windscreen washer fluid is formulated for use on aircraft windscreens to remove salt and insect debris. Deicer is used on aircraft on the ground to remove snow, freezing rain and frost.
