What is an aircraft skid block?
A skid block is a crucial part of the wheel and brake system, designed to protect the landing gear after takeoff. After the landing gear is retracted into the aircraft’s fuselage, the skid blocks stop the front tire’s rotation. A skid block isn’t needed for rear tires because they have their own braking system.
