Overview

This lubricant is formulated from a specially prepared hindered-ester base stock and fortified with a unique chemical additive package. It resists deterioration and deposit formation while maintaining the physical characteristics required by builder and military specifications. The effective operating range of Mobil Jet Oil 254 is between -40°C (-40°F) and 232°C (450°F). Compared to typical Type II lubricants, it reduces bulk oil oxidation by up to 50% and shows improved deposit control capability at higher temperatures. The closely controlled low-temperature viscosity and low pour point (below -54°C) ensure good fluidity for starting and lubrication at temperatures as low as -40°C. Extensive testing has demonstrated excellent bulk oil stability at temperatures up to 232°C (450°F) for extended periods, with low evaporation rates to prevent excessive volume loss. Mobil Jet Oil 254 is recommended for turbo-jet, turbo-fan, turbo-prop, and turbo-shaft (helicopter) engines in commercial and military service, as well as for industrial or marine applications.

Features & Benefits

  • Excellent thermal and oxidation stability reduces carbon and sludge deposits, maintaining engine efficiency and extending engine life
  • Reduces bulk oil oxidation by 50% and increases deposit control by 50°F
  • Outstanding wear and corrosion protection extends seal, gear, and bearing life, reducing engine maintenance
  • Viscosity and shear stability across a wide temperature range for effective lubrication
  • Chemically stable at high operating temperatures to reduce evaporation losses and lower oil consumption
  • Excellent resistance to foaming maintains film strength under rigorous conditions
  • Good low-temperature fluidity permits start-up and effective lubrication at temperatures as low as -40°F
