Overview

Low-Frequency Underwater Locator Device is a self-contained acoustic locator supplied as part number 21435-00. The device houses a lithium battery and an automatic water-activated switch in a watertight aluminum case and emits a low-frequency ultrasonic pulse (8.8 kHz) for a minimum of 90 days to assist search and recovery teams in locating submerged aircraft wreckage and flight recorders. The unit is engineered to withstand high-impact shocks and operate at extreme depths.

Features & Benefits

  • Extended detection range: Low-frequency (8.8 kHz) signal provides greater detection range than standard 37.5 kHz ULBs
  • Long operational life: Integrated lithium battery provides a minimum of 90 days of continuous operation after activation
  • Durable construction: Watertight aluminum case designed to withstand deep-sea pressures and high-G impacts
  • Automatic activation: Water-sensitive switch ensures automatic activation upon immersion in fresh or salt water
  • Self-contained: No interface with aircraft systems required for activation
