The Fuel Quantity Processor Unit (FQPU) is a digital computer. The function of the FQPU is to use data from tank units (TUs) to calculate fuel quantity and also for fuel management data. The tank units are ultrasonic probes which provides the electronic signals that are proportional to the fuel level. The FQPU processes the signals into fuel quantity data. The FQPU also sends data through dual ARINC 429 busses to the Integrated Refuel Panel (IRP) to control automatic refuel. The fuel quantity processor unit incorporates algorithm to account for fuel sloshing and gauge error ensuring accurate fuel quantity calculations while constantly monitoring for faults and abnormalities. Integrated into the avionics system of an aircraft the FQPU allows for communication of the data with other onboard systems.
