Overview
3M™ Scotch-Weld™ 1838 B/A Series structural epoxy adhesive is specially designed to offer controlled flow to ensure precise, accurate application for better results. The green colored part-A paste of epoxy adhesive has a slight amine odor and 1.04 specific gravity. White colored part-B liquid of epoxy adhesive has a mild epoxy odor and 1.37 specific gravity. It has a boiling point greater than or equal to 250 degrees F for part-A and greater than or equal to 300 degrees F for part-B. Flash point of this adhesive is greater than or equal to 200 degrees F for part-A and 200 degrees F for part-B. The adhesive has a density of 1.04 grams per cubic centimeter for part-A and 1.3 grams per cubic centimeter for part-B. It has a viscosity of 3000 to 10,000 poise for part-A and 400,000 centipoises for part-B. This product takes a curing time of 7 days at 24 degrees C, 2 hours at 65 degrees C and 30 minutes at 100 degrees C. It requires an application time of 60 minutes and allows an elongation of 2 to 3%. The epoxy adhesive ensures a tensile strength of 4290 psi, a peeling strength of 4 piw and a shear strength of 3000 psi at 75 degrees F. This product comes in a 1-quart tube and is rated at 80 degrees F for safe storage.
