Adhesion Promoters

Adhesion promoters are used in aerospace to enhance the bond strength of coatings and accelerate the adhesion of sealants. Adhesive promoters also prevent peeling and flaking, allow for a smoother, more uniform paint finish, and provide excellent resistance to extreme environmental effects in the aerospace industry.

Adhesion promoters pre-treat surfaces before you coat them with primers, epoxies, and polyurethane paints or before sealants are applied to accelerate the adhesion process. Before an adhesion promoter for coating is applied, the area should be cleaned thoroughly with solvents to remove any dirt, grease, or lubricants that may be present. Adhesive promoters can then be applied using a brush, spray bottle, or with clean gauze.
