Overview

The PPG PR-1440® B-1/2 Aircraft Integral Fuel Tank Sealant is specifically designed for sealing fuel tanks and other aircraft fuselage applications. The uncured material is a low-sag, thixotropic paste suitable for application by extrusion gun or spatula. It cures at room temperature to form a resilient sealant with excellent adhesion to common aircraft substrates. The sealant has a service temperature range from -65 °F (-54 °C) to 250 °F (121 °C), with intermittent excursions up to 275 °F (135 °C).

Features & Benefits

  • Thermal rupture resistance for reliable performance.
  • Low temperature flexibility at -65 °F (-54 °C) with no cracking, checking, or loss of adhesion.
  • Corrosion resistance, showing no corrosion, adhesion loss, softening, or blistering after 20-day immersion in 2-layer salt water at 140 °F (60 °C).
  • Resistance to hydrocarbons for enhanced durability.
  • Flexibility with no cracks after bending 180° over a 0.125 inch (3.18 mm) mandrel.
  • Repairable to itself, bonding well to both freshly-cured and fuel-aged or abraded fillets.
  • Excellent resistance to water, alcohols, petroleum-based and synthetic lubricating oils, and petroleum-based hydraulic fluids.
  • Fungus resistant with a non-nutrient formulation.
